COLUMBIA, TN (May 6, 2024) – The Lady Bucks battled hard with No. 7 seed Roane State, but they come out victorious Monday evening to advance in the TCCAA Region 7 Tournament.
Roane State’s started off strong as their leadoff batter hits a home run for the first pitch of the game. Roane State continued to score as a home run batted in another runner, making the score 3-0. Motlow State was able to shorten Roane State’s lead in the bottom of the 1st by Carli Warner batting in Michalee Clay for their first run of the game.
Roane State continued to extend their lead by scoring off a double in the top of the 2nd and hitting a home run in the top of the 3rd.
No more runs were scored until the bottom of the 5th inning, when Hannah Foster reached first on a fielder’s choice, Clay advanced to second on a Roane State shortstop error and scored, and Haylee Hobby also scoring a run. The scoring continued for the Lady Bucks when Foster scored off a single by Warner, Warner scoring off a Kennadee Lawrence single, and Karly Daughrity and Lawrence scoring off a single by Anna Sullivan. By the 6th inning, Motlow scored an outstanding six runs and took the lead 8-5.
With Roane State only able to add one more run to the scoreboard in the bottom of the 6th, Motlow State take the win 8-6.
Clay scored three runs, and Foster, Warner, Lawrence, Daughrity, and Hobby each scored one run. Warner and Sullivan had 2 RBIs each. Foster and Lawrence each batted in one runner.
With the Lady Bucks’ win, they play the loser of No. 4 seed Volunteer State and No 1. Seed Walters State on Tuesday, May 7th at 5:30 p.m.
