Comeback Falls Short in Bucks loss to Walters State

Men's basketball player Dylan Wade drives to the basket.

The Motlow Bucks cut the Walters State lead from 20 points to eight late in the second half but couldn't complete the comeback as the Senators escaped with an 80-70 win Wednesday night at Copperweld Arena.

Motlow (3-9, 1-4) will travel to Dyersburg State (7-1, 4-0) on Saturday, Dec. 3, with tipoff scheduled for 4 p.m.

Sophomore Dylan Wade scored with six minutes remaining to cut the Walters State lead to 68-60. Then classmate Kolbe Gray hit back-to-back 3-pointers and the Bucks trailed by eight with 2:50 remaining. After trailing 43-23 at the half, the Bucks just didn't have enough time to complete the comeback.

Gray had his best shooting night of the season, connecting on 5-7 from 3-point range and 7-9 overall. Gray added four assists and four steals to his totals. Mi'Quan Tucker scored 15 and had four rebounds, three blocked shots, and two steals.
