Motlow Bucks pound Martin Methodist JV in Pulaski

The Motlow Bucks rolled to their fifth consecutive win Tuesday night when they traveled to Pulaski and defeated the Martin Methodist College junior varsity squad 98-67.

Motlow (5-0, 2-0) will step back into Tennessee Community College Athletic Association play when it hosts Volunteer State on Saturday at Copperweld Arena. The women's contest is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with the men to follow at 4 p.m. Both games can be seen live on the internet at iHigh.com/motlowstatecc.

The Volunteer State Pioneers have struggled out of the gate this season, losing their first four games by an average score of 108-69.

The Bucks were never seriously challenged by the Red Hawks, jumping out to a 46-37 halftime lead. The Bucks played 12 different players and dished out 28 assists on 39 made shots. Ten different players scored for Motlow, with four in double figures.

Dequon Miller led the way with 18 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals. D'Andre Downey had his first double-double as a Buck with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jaylen Barford, who leads the Bucks averaging 21.2 points-per-game, scored just six points but dished out a team-high 10 assists.

Clint Nwosuh continued his consistent play, scoring 14 points with five rebounds, and fifth starter Jordan Darden scored eight points with two rebounds in only 12 minutes of action.

Freshman Reid Pierce had his best outing of the season with 11 points and five rebounds. Reggie Williams scored seven points with three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Terry Holt scored nine points and added six rebounds, two assists and a steal; and Greg Mason had six points with six rebounds. Axel Magnuson hit a three-point shot and hauled down five rebounds.
