Motlow State Lady Bucks open basketball season at home Nov. 3

The Motlow State Lady Bucks will open the 2017-18 basketball season in the friendly confines of Nisbett Center when they host Wayne State Community College from Detroit on Friday, Nov. 3. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The Motlow Lady Bucks will open the 2017-18 basketball season when they host Wayne State (MI) Community College at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, at Copperweld Arena on the Moore County campus. Jewel Ledbetter (pictured), a 5-10 sophomore from Waldorf, Maryland, is one of two returning sophomores on Head Coach LaTanya Collins' roster.
Motlow, under first-year Head Coach LaTanya Collins, will play a total of 29 regular season games, 17 on the road and 12 inside Copperweld Arena on the Moore County campus. There is no admission charge to Motlow basketball contests.

Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) play begins Nov. 10, when the Lady Bucks will join the men's team in traveling to Jackson to play Jackson State. The following day, both teams will play at Columbia State.

The Bucks will join the Lady Bucks for the first time at home on Wednesday, Nov. 15. The women will play the Martin Methodist College JV at 5:30 p.m. and the men will host the Cumberland University JV at 7:30 p.m.

The first home conference games are the first weekend in December. Cleveland State comes to town on Friday, Dec. 1, with the Lady Bucks tipping off at 5:30 p.m., and Chattanooga State visits the next day with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.

Motlow will make a couple of long road trips during holiday breaks. The Lady Bucks travel to Jacksonville to face Florida State College the day before Thanksgiving, then go to Americus, Georgia, to play South Georgia Tech and Central Georgia Tech the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Just before New Year, Motlow will travel to Washington D.C. for a pair of contests, facing ASA College on Dec. 29, and playing Harford Junior College on Dec. 30.

The Lady Bucks will play seven consecutive road dates during the middle of the season, stretching from Dec. 6 to Jan. 13. Following that, Motlow will play four home games in eight days between Jan. 19-27.

Motlow's final non-conference game is Jan, 24, when the Lady Bucks host Wallace State at 5:30 p.m. Homecoming is scheduled for Feb. 10, with defending TCCAA champion Walters State visiting for a 4 p.m. tip. The regular season ends with a 4 p.m. home game against Columbia State Feb. 24. The TCCAA conference tournament will be held at Chattanooga State, with play-in games scheduled for Friday, Mar. 2.

The Lady Bucks will officially begin practice Oct. 1, and will see their first scrimmage action on Oct. 15, when they travel to Atlanta for the CB Hoops JUCO Jam.
